James Landis

Brand Architect

James Landis was the brand architect of Ugly Mug.  He came up with the brand name, designed the first version of Ugly Mug packaging, and created the signature flavor profile.  This coffee whiskey was originally part of the William Wolf line of flavored whiskies. 

After developing a loyal following, it was decided  to make the coffee whiskey it’s own brand under the name Ugly Mug. 

Jim has been in the liquor industry for over thirty years and has had other notable brand exits to Diageo (Sia Scotch) and Heaven Hill (Hpnotiq Liqueur) as well as smaller brand exits.
